Free Poo Emoji Crochet Pattern

My now ten-year-old nephew loves when I crochet him things as gifts and he also finds a poo I crocheted years ago (to use up some brown yarn I had) super hilarious, so I went ahead knowing I wanted to make him another lil poo emoji but this time I figured I’d work out the pattern and share with the world here too. I do use the plastic “safety” eyes which are not baby-safe! So please if you’re giving this to a child under the age of ten or prone to pulling things apart and/or munching on them, use black yarn to crochet the eyes on for their safety and digestion just in case!

Start with the bottom in rounds.

  1. Magic circle, 6 sc around
  2. 2 sc in each 6 sc from previous round, around (increasing the width of our flat base)
  3. 2 sc in one sc, 1 sc, around
  4. 2 sc in one sc, 2 sc, around
  5. 2 sc in one sc, 3 sc, around
  6. 2 sc in one sc, 4 sc, around
  7. 2 sc in one sc, 5 sc, around
  8. 2 sc in one sc, 6 sc, around
  9. sc around (now we are happy with the width of our turd, now we just go around a few times)
  10. sc around
  11. sc around
  12. 1 sc dec, 6 sc, around (and now we are going to decrease so we form the neck of our poo)
  13. 1 sc dec, 5 sc, around
  14. 1 sc dec, 4 sc, around
  15. 1 sc dec, 3 sc, around (in the video this is where I had messed up and started to build the head at first, but we still should decrease for a pinched neck!)
  16. 1 sc dec, 2 sc, around
  17. 2 sc in one sc, 1 sc, around (now we increase again!)
  18. 2 sc in one sc, 2 sc, around (and if you want a bigger slope where one side of the poo’s head is wider than the other, do the increase only on half of this row)
  19. sc around
  20. 1 sc dec, 3 sc, around
  21. 1 sc dec, 2 sc, around
  22. Add safety eyes on round 19 (or crochet eyes in for little kids, french knots with black yarn would work), and fill base as much as you can without it impeding your following crochet rows, 1 sc dec, 2 sc, around
  23. 1 sc dec, 1 sc, around for the next rounds until close with a long tail and slip stitch
  24. Use a blunt yarn needle to tuck tail in and tighten the head through the base of the poo with a knot in the shape of your liking, then tuck the rest of the tail length into the body, and you’re all done! Happy poo emoji to all!!
